Preschool - April 2016

We all know "terrible twos" and people say it is the hardest -- but honestly -- I think "threenagers" is so much worse!!!! Sorry for all my friends with 2 year olds and that excited to get to three...I'm striving to reach the 4-year old mark! ahhh.

So...due to our heavy 3-year old attitude, we haven't done much school this spring - it's honestly just too exhausting to fight over, but here are a few things we did.

Working on sounding out words. She can do it - she knows all her letter sounds and can get every sound in the word - she just has a hard time "pushing" all the letters together to hear the word. So - we practiced with little tiles we have from another game. Once she sounded out the letters, she was allowed to flip over the picture to see if she got it right!

Color sorting and counting!

March 2016 - Preschool

Here's a glance at preschool in March.

Non-school related, but during one (rather noisy) nap time - Ella set up a little seating arrangement for all her animals that made me laugh. She is so creative!

We are working on assigning her some chores to be a helper around the house. She rocks the tasks of putting away the silverware.

Fruit of the Spirit - Patience - Preschool

Over the last few weeks we have been talking about patience in school. For all of the fruit of the spirit I've associated them with a fruit. For patience I chose a Pineapple - because, let's be honest, it takes a whole lot of patience to cut a pineapple.

Here are our activities:

I created the dot-to-dot and added numbers to make it somewhat educational. We did 11-35; which she can totally count through these numbers, but seeing them all mixed up and trying to find 13 (as opposed to 31 or 33) really was a struggle.

My sweet friend set up a pineapple craft for the kids at a playdate.

finishing up some fruit patterns

We printed out the dot-to-dot again and tried it with stickers. The 2nd time through all the numbers mixed up went much better.

finger painting - adding one to each "section" of the pineapple.

February 2016 - Preschool

tracing her hand and a self portrait!

Thanks Jonathan for the fun toy!

Her absolute new favorite thing is writing her name. :)

working on writing our last name.

I love these little spelling puzzles -- and so does she! #win

Love the file folder games I got at a yardsale last year . They are great practice for her to work independently.

We are going to start working on our numbers past the teens.

matching games.

I got this cute game at Goodwill last week. Basically you use the spinner to land on different colors - and you have to use the squirrel tweezer to pick up your acorns or every color. Great for dexterity.

sorting words that start with P and N -- she did  a great job! [Thanks BA for this resource!]

Thanks Jenn for the reminder of how much kids love sand. Thanks Kelsey for this sand!

working on learning our last name and phone numbers for emergencies. Crazy to me that she is old enough that she could actually be helpful in an emergency.

numbers 11-36. Hey...I ran out of pumpkins..haha
